A transfer battle is reportedly developing over Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, with Liverpool and Barcelona both showing strong interest in the Dutch centre-back.
According to journalist Mike Verweij, Liverpool are actively pursuing the Spurs defender as they look to reshape their backline under new manager Andoni Iraola. Barcelona are also said to be monitoring the situation closely, with both clubs viewing him as a major defensive target.
Van de Ven’s exceptional pace, recovery ability, and ball-playing quality have made him one of the most highly rated left-footed centre-backs in Europe, fitting the tactical demands of both clubs.
For Liverpool, he is even being considered a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.
Despite the growing interest, Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly unwilling to let him leave, seeing him as a key figure in his project at the club. There is also an idea that he could be paired with new signing Jan Paul van Hecke to form a strong defensive partnership rather than being replaced.
Former scout Micky Brown also believes Spurs will do everything possible to keep him, praising his pace and importance to the team while suggesting any exit would be difficult to engineer.
As a result, Tottenham are expected to demand a huge fee if they are forced to consider a sale, making any potential transfer extremely complicated.
