Liverpool set next transfer plan after landing Victor Muñoz
Liverpool are reportedly already planning their next signing after successfully beating Newcastle United to the capture of Spanish winger Victor Muñoz.
The Osasuna forward had been heavily linked with Newcastle, but reports from June 17 indicate Liverpool have now secured the deal after activating his €40 million (£34.6m) release clause.
The 22-year-old, who can play on both wings and is currently part of Spain’s World Cup squad, is expected to sign a six-year contract at Anfield. Club officials are already in the United States finalising his medical.
Muñoz impressed last season with Osasuna, recording seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances, although the club finished 17th in La Liga.
He previously developed in the academies of Barcelona and Real Madrid and has already featured for the latter at senior level.
He is set to become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era, with Liverpool now turning their attention to other targets such as RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool still intend to sign at least one more winger this summer despite Muñoz’s imminent arrival.
Romano explained that Muñoz was viewed as a smart, low-risk signing due to his release clause and affordable wages, with Liverpool’s recruitment team—led by Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards—continuing to work on further attacking additions.
He also mentioned Bradley Barcola as a player on Liverpool’s radar, although Arsenal are also interested in the Paris Saint-Germain winger.
Barcola is under contract with PSG until 2028, while Diomande remains tied to RB Leipzig until 2030.
