Liverpool youngster close to Anfield departure could make new-club debut within 48 hours.

Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison is reportedly closing in on a loan move away from Anfield, with the 19-year-old potentially set to make his debut for Sheffield Wednesday within the next 48 hours.

Morrison impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season campaign, scoring in the Reds’ 4-2 victory over Sunderland in Nashville while several senior players were still away following their post-World Cup breaks.

The Northern Ireland international recently signed a new Liverpool contract but had been tipped for a temporary move to Dutch side Groningen. However, his next destination now appears likely to be England.

According to reports, Morrison is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan, and if the transfer is completed quickly, he could feature when the Owls face Bradford in League One on Thursday night.

The teenager made a brief 24-minute appearance in Liverpool’s goalless draw with Como on Sunday but was left out of the club’s other recent friendlies at Anfield.

A move to Sheffield Wednesday could provide Morrison with valuable regular first-team football. The Owls have made a positive start to the season, defeating Leyton Orient in their opening league match and eliminating Bolton from the Carabao Cup.

Morrison will also have the example of Liverpool teammate Conor Bradley to follow. Bradley previously spent time on loan at Bolton in League One before returning to establish himself in the Reds’ senior squad.

If the proposed deal goes through without any late complications, Morrison could now begin his development away from Anfield with Sheffield Wednesday.
