Tottenham Defender Rejects Poland Move as Planned Transfer Falls Through
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alfie Dorrington has reportedly decided against completing a permanent transfer to Polish club Pogoń Szczecin, despite the deal being close to completion.
The 21-year-old centre-back had been in advanced discussions with the Ekstraklasa side, with reports suggesting he was due to undergo a medical before finalising the move. Pogoń owner Alex Haditaghi also indicated negotiations were progressing, clarifying that the proposed deal included a transfer fee, a substantial financial package, and a significant sell-on clause.
However, reports now claim the transfer has collapsed after Dorrington opted to remain in England. Although only minor details were left to complete, the defender reportedly changed his mind at the last minute.
The decision is believed to have been driven by personal reasons, with reports suggesting his partner was unwilling to relocate to Poland. As a result, Dorrington has chosen to stay in England and pursue other opportunities.
A graduate of Tottenham’s academy, Dorrington has made one senior appearance for Spurs and has spent time on loan at Aberdeen and Salford City. While he remains under contract until 2029, he is not expected to play a major role under Roberto De Zerbi and is now likely to seek regular first-team football elsewhere in England.
