Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has delivered a mixed injury update ahead of the Carabao Cup showdown against Chelsea, with Florian Wirtz looking likely to feature while Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz face greater uncertainty.
Wirtz suffered an ankle problem during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday, but Iraola remains optimistic that the German midfielder will recover in time for the cup tie.
“Florian was quite fine. I’m quite optimistic that he will be available,” Iraola explained.
However, the Liverpool boss admitted that Szoboszlai and Munoz have a tougher race against time, suggesting their chances of playing are less promising.
Iraola also confirmed that Liverpool will make changes to their starting XI as they manage the squad’s workload during a busy run of fixtures.
Despite the expected rotation, the Reds are determined to secure victory against Chelsea and progress in the competition.
👀 Will Liverpool have enough firepower to overcome Chelsea despite their injury concerns?
