Tottenham Hotspur are in the midst of an ambitious summer overhaul, with Roberto De Zerbi leading a major squad rebuild as the club aims to recover from a disappointing campaign and return to competing with the Premier League’s top sides.
After narrowly escaping relegation last season, Spurs have fully backed De Zerbi in the transfer market. Instead of their previously cautious spending strategy, the North London club has shifted its focus toward signing established, high-quality players capable of making an immediate impact.
The change marks a significant shift in approach. Former managers Ange Postecoglou, José Mourinho, and Antonio Conte all questioned the club’s reluctance to invest heavily in elite talent. Under De Zerbi, however, Tottenham appear committed to a far more aggressive recruitment strategy.
Reports suggest the Italian only accepted the job after receiving guarantees of substantial financial backing, and the club has moved quickly to honor that commitment.
Even without European football this season, Tottenham have remained an attractive destination thanks to their Premier League stature, state-of-the-art facilities, world-class stadium, and financial strength, allowing them to convince top players to move to North London.
Spurs have also shown greater determination in negotiations, proving more willing to meet transfer valuations rather than walking away from deals. That approach has helped them compete directly with clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City for key targets.
The rebuild started at the back. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joined on free transfers, bringing valuable experience, while Martin Dúbravka strengthened the goalkeeping options. Tottenham then completed a reported £52 million deal for Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, who is expected to become a key figure in De Zerbi’s defensive setup.
Midfield has also received a major boost, with Spurs pulling off impressive moves for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes despite interest from several top European clubs.
Those additions have strengthened the core of the squad, but Tottenham’s transfer business may not be finished. After scoring only 48 Premier League goals last season, reinforcing the attack remains a priority, with the club continuing to monitor several exciting forwards capable of adding pace, creativity, and goals.
Should Spurs secure three more attacking signings before the transfer window closes, they could enter the new season with one of their most exciting squads in recent years.
