Jurgen Klopp’s Famous Man City Bus Parade Remark Resurfaces After Landmark Verdict

Jürgen Klopp’s memorable comments about Manchester City potentially being stripped of their Premier League titles have resurfaced following a landmark verdict involving the club.

An independent commission has reportedly found Manchester City guilty of financial breaches, bringing renewed attention to remarks Klopp made shortly after leaving Liverpool in 2024.

What Klopp Said About Manchester City Losing Their Titles

After stepping down as Liverpool manager in May 2024, Klopp was asked whether he would consider himself a champion if Manchester City were eventually stripped of their Premier League honours.

The former Liverpool boss responded with his now-famous line:

«“If you organise a bus parade, I am in! How long it takes I don’t care!”»

Klopp’s comment came after Liverpool had narrowly missed out to City in two title races, with the Reds finishing just one point behind Pep Guardiola’s side in both the 2018/19 and 2021/22 campaigns.

Liverpool collected 97 points in 2018/19 and 92 points in 2021/22, but City claimed the title on both occasions by the narrowest of margins.

Could Liverpool’s History Be Rewritten?

If Manchester City’s results from the 2018/19 season were ever retrospectively overturned, Liverpool’s campaign could potentially be viewed very differently in the history books.

Liverpool finished that season with 97 points and also lifted the Champions League trophy. Any decision affecting City’s results could therefore have significant consequences for how that historic campaign is remembered.

Klopp’s old bus-parade comment has now resurfaced, adding another layer to the debate surrounding Manchester City’s financial case and Liverpool’s incredibly close title battles with Guardiola’s side.
