Tottenham ‘Begin Payment Plan’ for £100m Star as January Transfer Plans Take Shape

Tottenham Reportedly Start Payment Plan for £100m Star as January Plans Take Shape

Tottenham are reportedly preparing for the January transfer window as their disappointing start to the season continues, with the club already exploring potential reinforcements for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

Spurs have endured a difficult period in recent seasons. After finishing 17th in 2024/25, they narrowly avoided another relegation battle last campaign, securing their Premier League survival on the final day with a 1-0 victory over Everton. Despite a major summer spending spree designed to strengthen De Zerbi’s squad, Tottenham’s early results have raised fresh concerns.

The north London club are currently without a win in their opening five league matches, sitting at the bottom of the table with just two points. Their 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool has added to the pressure, leaving Tottenham with even more reason to consider strengthening in January.

According to reports from Football Insider, Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has emerged as a potential target. Tottenham are believed to have maintained their interest in the England international after previously attempting to sign him.

Spurs reportedly made an approach for Gibbs-White last year, but Forest rejected the move and managed to keep hold of one of their key players. Tottenham’s continued interest suggests they still view the 26-year-old as someone who could provide a much-needed creative boost to De Zerbi’s midfield.

Gibbs-White is valued by Transfermarkt at around £60 million, although Forest could demand considerably more given his importance to the team and his remaining contract. His ability to play between the lines, create chances and contribute defensively makes him an attractive option for Tottenham.

The midfielder’s versatility is another factor that could appeal to De Zerbi, as he can operate in several attacking and midfield roles. His Premier League experience would also allow him to adapt quickly, while his recent England call-up under Thomas Tuchel highlights his current standing at international level.

A deal would represent a significant financial investment for Tottenham, particularly if Forest refuse to lower their demands. However, with Spurs struggling for goals and creativity, Gibbs-White could remain a prominent name on their January shortlist.

For now, there is no certainty that a transfer will happen, but Tottenham’s reported interest could become more serious if their poor run continues.
