Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has emerged as a surprise contender to become the first Premier League manager sacked this season, according to football pundit Rory Jennings.
Despite Newcastle sitting 11th in the league, concerns are reportedly growing over their defensive weaknesses and inconsistent performances since Jaissle replaced Eddie Howe in August.
The Magpies have already suffered heavy defeats, including a 4-1 loss to Coventry City, while their recent away performances have raised further questions about the team’s progress.
Jennings believes the expectations at Newcastle are enormous and warned that another disappointing result against Aston Villa could quickly intensify the pressure on the new manager.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Michael Carrick and Tottenham’s Roberto De Zerbi have also been identified as serious candidates for the sack, with both clubs struggling to meet expectations.
Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa is another name being discussed after a difficult start, although Jennings believes the Spaniard deserves more time to prove himself.
