Tottenham Hotspur have received encouraging news regarding Xavi Simons, with the Dutch attacking midfielder reportedly aiming to return to action in late December.
The 23-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee during Spurs’ clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers around six months ago. The injury was expected to rule him out for the remainder of the 2026/27 campaign and also ended his hopes of featuring at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, fresh reports suggest Simons is making encouraging progress in his rehabilitation and could be back sooner than initially anticipated.
The Netherlands international joined Tottenham from RB Leipzig in August 2025 and contributed five goals and six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi will be keen to have the creative midfielder available again as Spurs look to maintain their improving form in the Premier League.
Simons has already resumed individual training on the grass and recently shared footage of his recovery, giving Tottenham supporters fresh hope about his progress.
Meanwhile, Spurs have received another boost following Dejan Kulusevski’s return to action this month after spending more than 500 days out with injury.
Tottenham have since won their last two Premier League matches, achieving consecutive league victories for the first time since August 2025.
De Zerbi’s side will next welcome Crystal Palace on Saturday, with another win potentially strengthening their recent momentum.
Although Simons’ comeback date has not been officially confirmed, a return before the end of December would provide Tottenham with another important attacking option during the busy festive period.
For now, Spurs fans will be hoping the Dutchman continues his recovery without setbacks and gets back on the pitch as soon as possible.
