Arsenal transfer update: Haaland stance revealed as Gunners target January winger
Arsenal are preparing for their return to Premier League action, but transfer developments surrounding Erling Haaland and Antonio Nusa have provided fresh talking points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Gunners enjoyed a strong start to the 2026/27 campaign, defeating Manchester City in the Community Shield before putting together a six-game winning run across all competitions. Their momentum was halted by a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Brighton.
With the international break now over, Arsenal are set to return to league action on October 10 against Leeds United as they continue their pursuit of another Premier League title.
Haaland prefers PSG move
Arsenal have been linked with Erling Haaland amid the uncertainty surrounding Manchester City following the club’s financial-rule case.
If City were ultimately relegated, several of their biggest stars could consider leaving the Etihad, with Haaland among the players expected to attract major interest.
However, reports from France suggest Arsenal may not be the Norwegian striker’s preferred destination.
According to Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain are currently considered favourites for the 26-year-old should he become available. PSG reportedly see Haaland as a potential long-term replacement for Ousmane Dembele, who could leave for Saudi Arabia in the future.
Arsenal prepare Nusa approach
Arsenal are also reportedly looking at RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa ahead of the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old has continued to impress since moving to Germany from Club Brugge in 2024 and has started the current campaign strongly.
German reports claim Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs showing the strongest interest in Nusa, although several other European sides are also monitoring his situation.
Arsenal are reportedly preparing an opening offer worth around £34 million, but that figure falls significantly below Leipzig’s valuation, which is believed to be between £50 million and £55 million.
The report suggests Arsenal’s interest could become increasingly serious as Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking options.
