Liverpool secured a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Brentford, but the result came at a cost as two players were forced off with injuries.

Liverpool suffered another setback in the second half when Jeremie Frimpong was introduced as a substitute but lasted just six minutes before being replaced by Rio Ngumoha due to an apparent injury.
The Reds’ afternoon had already been eventful after a penalty initially awarded to them was overturned following a VAR review. Brentford then took the lead through Keane Lewis-Potter, who headed home an excellent cross from Igor Thiago.
However, the hosts’ situation worsened when Yehor Yarmolyuk received a straight red card for a headbutt on Jeremy Jacquet just before the break.
Liverpool capitalised on their numerical advantage as Victor Munoz equalised before Alexander Isak fired the visitors into the lead with a clinical finish.
Brentford’s misery continued when Vitaly Janelt was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in stoppage time.
Despite securing all three points, Liverpool will now be concerned about the fitness of Szoboszlai and Frimpong as they await further updates on their conditions.
The victory moves Liverpool above Brentford into fifth place in the Premier League table, while the Bees’ unbeaten league run comes to an end.
