Unbeaten EFL Club Offers Dele Alli Training Opportunity as Manager Opens Door
Dele Alli remains without a club, but the former Tottenham star has now been offered the opportunity to train with League Two side Barnet.
The north London club, located close to where Alli established himself at Tottenham, have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season. Barnet currently sit at the top of the League Two table after seven matches as they push for promotion to League One.
Barnet manager Dean Brennan has revealed that Alli would be welcome to train with his squad, with the midfielder already making use of the club’s facilities.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Brennan said he would be delighted to have Alli train with the team, describing him as a “serious footballer” who is currently experiencing a difficult period in his career.
Brennan also suggested that there must be reasons why other clubs have yet to offer Alli a contract, but insisted he would have no problem giving the 30-year-old another opportunity. He pointed to examples of players who have revived their careers after difficult spells and stressed that everyone deserves a second chance.
The Barnet boss added that several unattached players use the club’s facilities to maintain their fitness, meaning Alli would be welcome to join the sessions if he wanted to continue training with the squad.
Alli’s most recent professional appearance came in March 2025 during his debut for Como. The midfielder was shown a red card just nine minutes into the game after accidentally stepping on Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s calf. His former Tottenham and England teammate Kyle Walker even appealed for the referee to reconsider the decision, but the official ultimately sent Alli off.
Since then, Alli has continued sharing videos of his training sessions on social media as he searches for his next club.
Brennan also confirmed that Alli has been renting Barnet’s training facilities. He explained that the club makes its facilities available to players who need somewhere to train, particularly given the financial realities of football outside the top divisions.
Alli, now 30, left Everton in 2024 without making a competitive appearance during his final season at the club. His last competitive goal came in January 2023 while playing for Besiktas against Alanyaspor.
Despite his prolonged absence from professional football, Alli continues to work on his fitness as he looks for an opportunity to restart his career. It remains unclear whether he has received or rejected any offers since leaving Como.
