Federico Chiesa Takes Another Step Towards Liverpool Return
Federico Chiesa appears to be making progress in his recovery after returning to training alongside members of Liverpool’s first-team squad.
The Italian winger has been unavailable for Liverpool’s opening seven matches of the season after suffering what manager Andoni Iraola previously described as a “small muscle injury” following the club’s pre-season friendly against Como.
Chiesa’s most recent appearance came on August 16, with his return to full training initially expected towards the end of September.
There has now been a positive update regarding his recovery after Liverpool goalkeeper Hayden Smith revealed that he recently trained alongside Chiesa and James McConnell at the AXA Training Centre.
Speaking about the experience, Smith said it was a great opportunity to train with players he had previously only watched on television.
The session provides another indication that Chiesa is moving closer to a return, although Liverpool are yet to announce when he will be available for competitive matches.
The winger will now hope to complete his recovery and return to action for Liverpool as soon as possible.
