Tottenham Offered Ex-Arsenal Striker in Shock Deal That Could Shatter Football’s Unwritten Transfer Rule

Spurs Linked With Former Arsenal Striker as Surprise Transfer Option Emerges

Tottenham Hotspur could make another major addition before the summer transfer window closes, with reports claiming they have been offered former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

Despite already investing more than £220 million in new signings, Roberto De Zerbi is still eager to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. Spurs have already brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka, while captain Cristian Romero is expected to complete a move to Inter Milan.

Tottenham have also been linked with Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup, but Balogun has now emerged as another attacking option.

According to reports, Balogun’s representatives have approached Spurs to gauge their interest, with Monaco willing to listen to suitable offers. The United States international impressed at the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals to help his country reach the Round of 16, and followed that up with 18 goals in 40 appearances for Monaco last season.

The move would be notable given Balogun’s history with Arsenal. A product of the Gunners’ academy, the 25-year-old made 10 senior appearances before leaving for Monaco in 2023 after loan spells at Reims and Middlesbrough.

Spurs are also monitoring Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson and continue to admire Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen, although the Nigerian’s reported £60–70 million valuation could complicate negotiations.

Speaking recently, De Zerbi hinted that Tottenham are not finished in the market, insisting the club has completed only around 60% of its transfer plans.

“When I really want a player, I become like a shark,” the Spurs boss said, suggesting more arrivals could be on the way before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
