Sandro Tonali Reveals What Life Has Been Like in London Since Joining Tottenham
Sandro Tonali has spoken about his experience settling into London after making his big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur, admitting that his wife was already more familiar with the city than he was.
The Italian midfielder completed a reported £100 million transfer from Newcastle United to Spurs in July, becoming the club’s record signing.
Tonali’s arrival formed part of Tottenham’s huge £340 million rebuild after the club finished 17th in the Premier League in consecutive seasons.
Despite interest from other top-flight clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City, Tonali ultimately chose Tottenham and was attracted by the opportunity to experience life in London.
The midfielder is reportedly earning around £275,000 per week at Spurs. His return to Newcastle earlier this season was an emotional one, with the former Magpies player receiving a hostile reception from the home supporters as Tottenham suffered a 2-0 defeat.
Tonali Opens Up About Adjusting to London
Speaking to SoccerBible, Tonali admitted that moving from Newcastle to London was a significant change.
He described London as considerably busier and very different from Newcastle, but said the people around him have helped make the transition much easier.
Tonali also credited his family, particularly his wife, for helping him adapt. He revealed that she already knew London relatively well, which made the move more comfortable for the family.
Tonali’s Message to Young Footballers
Tonali also offered some advice to youngsters dreaming of becoming professional footballers.
The Tottenham star encouraged aspiring players to keep believing in their dreams, even when the road becomes difficult.
Reflecting on his own journey, Tonali explained that he once dreamed of playing in Serie A before eventually making it to the Premier League.
Now that he has experienced English football, the Italian believes the Premier League is the best league in the world.
His message to young players is straightforward: dream big, remain dedicated and never stop pursuing your ambitions.
