FABRIZIO ROMANO CONFIRMS MAN UNITED DEAL FOR LIVERPOOL’S HIGHLY-RATED YOUNG MIDFIELDER
Manchester United have reportedly completed a deal to bring 16-year-old midfielder Isaac Konde from arch-rivals Liverpool.
Konde is considered one of the promising talents to emerge from Liverpool’s academy, but United have moved quickly to secure his services as they continue their strategy of recruiting some of England’s best young prospects.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that all the formalities surrounding the move were completed within the last 24 hours.
The teenager has yet to make his senior Liverpool debut, but he featured for the club’s Under-18s last season and has impressed while operating in advanced midfield and wider attacking positions.
Losing a highly-rated academy player directly to Manchester United will come as a disappointment for Liverpool, although Konde was still some way from breaking into the first team.
For United, however, the signing represents another investment in the future. Rather than waiting until young players become established and command huge transfer fees, the club are looking to identify promising talent early and develop them within their own system.
Konde will now face the challenge of adapting to United’s academy setup while competing with several other talented young midfielders and attackers for opportunities.
It may not be a signing that immediately impacts Manchester United’s first-team season, but the club will hope the teenager develops into a senior star in the years ahead.
