Manchester United and Arsenal are locked in a transfer race for Brazil’s highly-rated striker Kaua Elias, dubbed the ‘next R9’, after both clubs scouted him earlier this month.
The 20-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk forward reportedly has a £30 million price tag and has attracted interest from European clubs including AC Milan and Porto. However, United and Arsenal are believed to be the strongest financial contenders for his signature.
Elias caught the attention of both Premier League giants after scoring a stunning hat-trick in Shakhtar’s 5-1 victory over Kudrivka. His pace, dribbling, finishing and ability with both feet have made him one of Brazil’s most exciting young forwards.
The striker has previously compared his style to Brazilian legend Ronaldo, citing the former Ballon d’Or winner’s speed, dribbling and finishing as qualities he admires.
With the September 1 transfer deadline approaching, Arsenal and Manchester United could now go head-to-head for the rising star.
