Tottenham Handed Surprise Chance to Sign Former Arsenal Striker in Transfer That Could Break Football’s Unwritten Rule

Spurs Consider Former Arsenal Forward in Unexpected Transfer Twist

Tottenham Hotspur could still bolster their squad before the summer transfer window closes, with reports suggesting the club has been offered the chance to sign former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

Despite spending more than £220 million on new arrivals this summer, Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly keen to add further quality ahead of the new campaign. Spurs have already signed Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka, while club captain Cristian Romero is expected to seal his move to Inter Milan.

Tottenham have also been linked with Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo and Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup, but Balogun has now emerged as another potential attacking target.

Reports claim the 25-year-old’s representatives have contacted Spurs to assess their interest, with Monaco open to considering suitable offers. The United States international enjoyed an impressive 2026 World Cup, scoring three times as his country reached the Round of 16, before finishing last season with 18 goals in 40 appearances for the French club.

A move would be particularly eye-catching given Balogun’s Arsenal roots. The academy graduate made 10 first-team appearances for the Gunners before joining Monaco in 2023 following loan spells at Reims and Middlesbrough.

Spurs are also keeping tabs on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson and remain admirers of Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, although the Nigerian’s reported £60–70 million price tag could make any deal difficult.

De Zerbi recently suggested Tottenham’s summer business is far from complete, revealing that the club has achieved only about 60% of its transfer objectives.

“When I really want a player, I become like a shark,” the Spurs head coach said, hinting that more signings could arrive before the transfer window closes on September 1.
