Liverpool are reportedly preparing to turn Ronald Araujo’s loan spell at Anfield into a permanent transfer in 2027, with an insider suggesting the deal is highly likely to happen.
The Barcelona-owned defender has quickly won over Liverpool supporters since arriving on loan this season. His impressive performances have made him an increasingly important figure in the squad.
Araujo was particularly outstanding during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brighton on Sunday, putting his body on the line to help the Reds secure a clean sheet.
🔥 LIVERPOOL ALREADY WORKING ON A PERMANENT DEAL?
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Liverpool’s hierarchy may already be laying the groundwork to secure Araujo’s long-term future at the club.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown suggested that Liverpool would want to get the necessary arrangements in place early, especially after seeing how quickly the Uruguayan has adapted to life at Anfield.
He explained that when a player arrives on loan and immediately impresses, the club will naturally begin exploring ways to make the move permanent.
Brown also highlighted the manager’s positive impression of Araujo, particularly following his excellent display against Brighton.
Although Liverpool will continue monitoring his performances throughout the season before making a final decision, the insider believes the club will want to have everything prepared well in advance.
He added that if Araujo maintains his current level, a permanent stay at Anfield is highly likely.
💰 £47M COULD BE ENOUGH TO KEEP HIM AT ANFIELD
Liverpool supporters are not the only ones pushing for the defender to stay. Journalist David Lynch has also suggested that signing Araujo permanently would be a sensible decision for the club.
Reports indicate that Liverpool have an option to make the transfer permanent for approximately £47 million.
Interestingly, Araujo was initially brought in to provide additional cover at centre-back, but he has also impressed at right-back, helping to strengthen a position that has caused Liverpool problems.
The 27-year-old has reportedly made a strong start to his Liverpool career, with his defensive commitment and consistency earning him plenty of praise.
Spanish publication Marca has also reported that Liverpool could pursue a permanent deal if his performances remain at their current level.
There is still time for the club to assess his progress, but his displays so far have given supporters plenty of reasons to believe he deserves to stay beyond next summer.
