Liverpool are reportedly planning discussions with the representatives of teenage defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe as they consider bringing him back to Anfield during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old caught attention during Liverpool’s pre-season preparations but was unable to obtain a UK work permit over the summer. This forced the Reds to send him on loan to Spanish club Levante for the 2026/27 season.
However, Ndukwe’s situation has reportedly changed after making his competitive debut for Levante in September. He has since accumulated enough points to qualify for a UK work permit, potentially opening the door for an early return to Merseyside.
🔴 LIVERPOOL PREPARE FOR TALKS WITH NDUKWE’S REPRESENTATIVES
According to Sky Sport Austria transfer reporter Eric Niederseer, representatives from More Than Sport by AS1 are expected to travel to the UK to meet with Liverpool officials.
The discussions are reportedly expected to centre on the possibility of recalling Ndukwe in January and determining the best next step in his development.
👀 COULD THE TEENAGER EARN A PLACE IN LIVERPOOL’S FIRST TEAM?
A return to Anfield in January could bring Ndukwe closer to Liverpool’s senior squad. However, earning regular playing time would be a significant challenge, particularly with Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet competing for places in central defence.
Injuries or changes to Liverpool’s defensive plans could create an opportunity for the youngster during the second half of the campaign.
For now, remaining at Levante could prove beneficial as he continues adapting to senior football and works towards becoming an established starter in Spain.
Gaining more experience in LaLiga could help prepare Ndukwe for the demands of competing for a first-team place at Liverpool in the future.
Nevertheless, the reported meeting suggests that discussions about his progress and long-term development could take place sooner rather than later.
Will Liverpool recall Ifeanyi Ndukwe in January, or would he benefit more from staying at Levante until the end of the season? 👀🔴
