Liverpool Eye £43m Midfield Star as Potential Wijnaldum Successor
Liverpool are reportedly exploring a move for Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram as they continue reshaping their squad under new manager Andoni Iraola.
Following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, the Reds are expected to strengthen several areas this summer, with midfield viewed as a key priority. Reports from Italy claim Liverpool have opened discussions over a potential deal for Thuram, who is valued at around £43 million after rejecting interest from Saudi side Al Ahli.
The French international has long been admired by Liverpool, dating back to his time at OGC Nice. Known for his energy, physicality, technical ability and ball-carrying skills, Thuram has drawn comparisons to former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
With Alexis Mac Allister and Liverpool’s midfield struggling for consistency last season, Thuram is seen as a player capable of bringing balance, drive and control to the centre of the pitch. His ability to progress the ball and contribute at both ends of the field makes him an attractive option for Iraola’s high-intensity system.
At £43m, Thuram could prove to be a smart investment as Liverpool look to rebuild and return to competing for major honours.
