Liverpool Injury Crisis Deepens as Szoboszlai Faces Possible LASK Absence
Liverpool’s injury concerns are growing, with Dominik Szoboszlai reportedly unlikely to recover in time for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to LASK.
The Hungarian midfielder missed Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City after returning from international duty feeling fatigued and experiencing a minor overload issue.
The situation has become more worrying for Andoni Iraola, with Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo also unavailable due to their respective injuries.
Iraola delivers worrying injury update
According to reports, Iraola is not optimistic about having any of Liverpool’s injured players available for the upcoming trip to Austria.
Explaining Szoboszlai’s condition, the manager revealed that the midfielder had returned from international duty feeling tired and was unable to train comfortably, despite the club attempting to manage his workload.
With Liverpool facing four matches in just 10 days, Iraola admitted that recovering the injured players in time would be difficult.
Isak and Gakpo are also being monitored after reportedly returning from international duty with thigh and ankle problems, respectively.
### Liverpool face a crucial test of squad depth
The timing of these setbacks could hardly be worse for Liverpool, who are approaching a demanding run of fixtures with little opportunity for recovery.
The Reds are scheduled to face LASK on October 14, Brentford on October 17 and Villarreal on October 20, with more important matches to follow.
Liverpool’s lack of experienced attacking options was evident against Manchester City, and the possible absence of Szoboszlai alongside Isak and Gakpo could create further problems.
Although the injuries are not currently believed to be long-term, even minor fitness issues could force key players to miss several games during this congested period.
Iraola must now find a way to manage his available players carefully while keeping Liverpool competitive across multiple competitions.
