Man City Take Unusual Route to Anfield Amid Fears of Hostile Liverpool Fan Reception
Manchester City reportedly changed their usual route to Anfield ahead of their clash with Liverpool due to growing tensions surrounding the club.
The decision came amid controversy over the Premier League financial charges, with City having been found guilty of alleged breaches by an independent commission. The club denies the allegations.
Before the match, calls circulated on social media urging Liverpool supporters to boo City’s team bus, while some fans prepared banners mocking the club over the financial controversy.
To avoid potential trouble, City’s team bus reportedly entered the stadium through a service entrance instead of its usual route. Although supporters were waiting there too, the crowd was considerably smaller.
The unusual journey added another layer of tension to an already heated encounter between the two Premier League rivals.
