Man City take unexpected route to Anfield amid fears of Liverpool fans’ reaction
Manchester City reportedly changed their usual route to Anfield ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool for a significant reason.
Tensions were already high following the controversy surrounding the club’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, which City continue to deny.
According to reports, calls had circulated on social media urging Liverpool supporters to boo the visiting team’s bus, while some fans prepared banners mocking City over the financial allegations.
With the possibility of a hostile reception looming, City reportedly avoided their usual route and entered the stadium through a service entrance instead.
Although some supporters were waiting there to welcome the visitors, the crowd was considerably smaller than the one expected along the traditional route.
The unusual decision came amid growing tension between the two clubs as Liverpool prepared to host their Premier League rivals at Anfield.
