Liverpool Star Speaks Out After Being Added to Ukraine’s ‘Enemies’ List

Liverpool Defender Milos Kerkez Breaks Silence After Being Listed as an ‘Enemy of Ukraine’

Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez has spoken publicly after he and his father were reportedly added to a Ukrainian database that labels certain individuals as “enemies of Ukraine.”

The controversy began during Hungary’s Nations League clash with Ukraine, when Kerkez became involved in a heated confrontation after his Liverpool teammate and Hungary captain, Dominik Szoboszlai, clashed with Ukraine’s Victor Tsygankov.

Kerkez intervened to defend Szoboszlai and was subsequently booked for his involvement.

The situation escalated after Kerkez’s father reportedly shared footage of the incident on Instagram alongside the song “Russian Paradise,” which sparked further backlash amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Kerkez and his father were later reportedly added to the Myrotvorets database, with Hungary’s foreign minister condemning the move and expressing concerns over alleged threats against the Liverpool defender.

Speaking ahead of Hungary’s return meeting with Ukraine, Kerkez insisted that he does not support aggression and explained why he stepped into the confrontation.

He said he had never supported aggression and would never accept anything that harms others. However, he stressed that football matches can become heated and said his actions were simply an attempt to defend his captain and friend.

Kerkez was suspended for the return fixture but chose to address the controversy publicly.

Hungarian authorities have also condemned the blacklisting, calling for the situation to be resolved and emphasizing that football should be about performance, community and respect.
