“He Won’t Accept It…” – Liverpool Star Could ‘Probably’ Leave in 2027 If This Happens

Liverpool reporter James Pearce has suggested that Giorgi Mamardashvili could consider leaving the club in 2027 if Alisson Becker extends his stay at Anfield.

Alisson’s current contract expires next summer, and reports indicate that Liverpool have yet to open formal talks over a new deal for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

The 33-year-old has remained Liverpool’s undisputed No.1 for years, while Mamardashvili arrived in 2025 as his understudy and has since made 21 appearances for the Reds.

However, Pearce believes Mamardashvili may not be willing to spend another season as Alisson’s backup if the Brazilian commits his future to Liverpool.

Speaking on The Athletic’s Walk On podcast, Pearce suggested that the Georgian goalkeeper could leave if Alisson stays, particularly with Liverpool having also invested heavily in teenage goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans.

The situation could leave Liverpool with several options for the future, including Brughmans, Vitezslav Jaros and Armin Pecsi, who is currently out on loan.

Mamardashvili has occasionally faced criticism during his time at Liverpool, but he recently impressed with several excellent saves during the Carabao Cup victory over Tottenham.

Still, with Liverpool planning for the long-term future of their goalkeeping department, Mamardashvili could face a difficult decision if Alisson signs a new contract.

After all, replacing the Brazilian as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper could prove extremely difficult.
