“From What I’ve Been Told” — Journalist Drops Alisson Contract Update That Could Concern Liverpool Fans

Alisson Contract Situation Raises Questions as Liverpool Yet to Open Talks

Alisson Becker’s future at Liverpool is becoming a talking point, with the goalkeeper now entering the final year of his current contract.

The Brazilian, who turns 34 in October, has just over nine months remaining on his deal and reportedly earns around £250,000 per week. He was previously linked with a move to Juventus, although those rumours failed to materialise.

However, from January, clubs outside England could potentially approach Alisson regarding a pre-contract agreement if his situation remains unchanged.

No New Contract Talks Yet

Speaking on The Athletic’s Walk On podcast, journalist James Pearce revealed that Liverpool and Alisson have not yet begun negotiations over a new contract.

Pearce explained that, according to what he has been told, both sides currently feel it is too early to begin discussions.

He said: “Is he going to still be around next season? We don’t know that at the moment. From what I’ve been told, it’s just too soon on all sides. There’s not been those talks yet.”

Liverpool Fans May Be Concerned

There is currently no indication of panic from either Liverpool or Alisson, and there is still plenty of time for both parties to reach an agreement.

Nevertheless, Liverpool supporters have seen several important contract situations drag on in recent seasons, and they will be hoping the same uncertainty does not surround one of the club’s most important players.

Alisson once again demonstrated his quality during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth, producing an excellent reflex save to deny Evanilson in the first half.

Losing the goalkeeper on a free transfer next summer would represent a significant blow, particularly after almost nine years on Merseyside.

Pearce’s latest comments suggest Liverpool fans should not expect an immediate breakthrough, while the possibility of Alisson seeking a new challenge in 2027 cannot yet be ruled out.

Liverpool will hope negotiations can begin soon and that an agreement can be reached before January, preventing further uncertainty over the goalkeeper’s long-term future.
