“Optimism on Both Sides” — Liverpool Confident of Securing New Deal for Rising ‘Future World-Beater’

Liverpool ‘Confident’ of Agreeing New Deal for Highly-Rated Rio Ngumoha

Liverpool are reportedly increasingly confident of securing a new long-term contract for teenage winger Rio Ngumoha.

The youngster turned 18 in August, making him eligible for a new deal that could include a significant pay increase to reflect his growing importance within the first team.

Ngumoha has recently been linked with interest from Arsenal, but reports have suggested that Liverpool are already making progress towards extending his stay at Anfield, with his current contract running until 2028.

‘Optimism’ Over Ngumoha’s Future

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that there is growing optimism on both sides that an agreement can be reached.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, O’Rourke said Liverpool are determined to keep Ngumoha, while the player is also understood to be happy at the club and expects to receive regular first-team opportunities under Andoni Iraola.

He added that highly-rated young players will naturally attract attention from other clubs, but Liverpool remain confident that Ngumoha’s long-term future can be secured at Anfield.

Liverpool Want to Keep Their Young Star

There is no immediate pressure to renew Ngumoha’s contract given that he still has two years remaining, although reported interest from Arsenal could encourage Liverpool to accelerate negotiations.

The teenager has already featured regularly this season, starting three of Liverpool’s first seven matches and making two additional appearances.

With Liverpool entering a busy period following the international break, Ngumoha should have plenty of opportunities to impress, particularly with Iraola frequently rotating his wide attackers.

Liverpool have also strengthened their options with the arrivals of Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, while Cody Gakpo has returned to form. Despite that competition, Ngumoha remains an important part of the squad.

Liverpool reportedly view the teenager as a potential future star, and securing his long-term commitment would be a significant step for the club.
