Bruno Guimaraes Sparks Buzz With Social Media Post After Arsenal’s 2-0 Win Over Sunderland

Bruno Guimaraes Sparks Reaction With Social Media Post After Arsenal’s Sunderland Victory

Bruno Guimaraes has attracted plenty of attention online following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The Brazilian midfielder, who moved to Arsenal from Newcastle United for around £75 million last month, scored his first goal for the Gunners with a spectacular long-range strike.

His goal came just two minutes after David Raya saved Enzo Le Fee’s penalty, a moment that had already left Mikel Arteta furious over the decision to award Sunderland a spot-kick.

After finding the net, Bruno celebrated by making a hand gesture before cupping his ears towards the Sunderland supporters, who had jeered him throughout the match because of his Newcastle connection.

The former Newcastle captain then appeared to take another swipe at the Sunderland fans on social media.

Following Arsenal’s victory, Bruno shared an image of his celebration on his Instagram Story alongside the message: “Once a Geordie, always a Geordie.”

He also explained the meaning behind his celebration, saying the hand gesture represented “They know what they are,” while adding another pointed message aimed at the Sunderland supporters.

Arsenal eventually sealed all three points in stoppage time when Bukayo Saka converted from the penalty spot, completing a difficult week on a high.

The result means Arsenal have now won all four of their opening Premier League matches, scoring eight goals and conceding just once.

Arteta praised his team’s result, highlighting victories over Chelsea, Napoli and Sunderland during an impressive run of fixtures.

Sunderland, meanwhile, can take positives from their performance despite suffering their second defeat of the season. Le Fee had the opportunity to give the hosts the lead, but Raya produced an outstanding save to keep Arsenal level.

The Black Cats remain 14th in the Premier League table with four points from their opening matches.
