Tottenham targeting Barcelona star Ferran Torres in ambitious transfer pursuit
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres as they continue strengthening their attack ahead of the new season.
According to reports, Spurs have remained in touch with the Spain international’s representatives and have expressed their willingness to bring him back to the Premier League if he decides to leave Barcelona.
Torres enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season, scoring 21 goals and providing three assists. He also played a decisive role in Spain’s World Cup triumph, netting the winning goal in the final against Argentina.
The 26-year-old previously featured for Manchester City, meaning he already has Premier League experience. His versatility allows him to play across the front line, making him an attractive option for Tottenham, who are seeking more firepower and creativity in attack.
Barcelona, however, may be reluctant to lose one of their most dependable attacking players. But with Torres entering the final year of his contract, the Catalan club could be forced to consider offers this summer if he declines to sign an extension, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
That situation could hand Tottenham the chance to secure the Spanish forward for a relatively affordable fee, with the North London club expected to monitor developments closely.
