Harry Kane’s Tottenham Return Chances Revealed After Bayern Munich Contract Update
Harry Kane is reportedly edging closer to signing a new contract with Bayern Munich, a development that could delay his long-awaited return to Tottenham and the Premier League.
The England striker has enjoyed a remarkable spell in Germany, producing the best goalscoring season of his club career. Kane scored an incredible 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions for Bayern, although the club were eliminated by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals.
His impressive form also continued at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored six times as England reached the semi-finals before suffering a late defeat to Argentina.
With Kane’s current Bayern contract due to expire in June 2027, uncertainty surrounding his future had sparked plenty of speculation. Tottenham have been linked with a sensational move for their former captain, while Manchester United and Barcelona have also reportedly shown interest.
However, Kane appears determined to continue his career in Bavaria.
The 33-year-old previously indicated that he would begin discussions over a new Bayern contract after returning from his summer break, and those talks are now reportedly underway.
According to reports, Bayern are prepared to offer Kane a new deal that would keep him at the club until June 2029. That would effectively rule out a Tottenham return during this summer’s transfer window.
Tottenham’s Kane dream may not be completely over
Despite the potential three-year extension, Tottenham supporters may still have reason to dream about seeing Kane back in north London one day.
Reports suggest Bayern are making progress in negotiations and could reach an agreement with the striker before the end of August.
Kane remains one of Tottenham’s greatest-ever players, having scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for the club. Spurs have long hoped that their legendary striker could eventually return to where his career truly began.
A contract running until 2029 would make an immediate reunion extremely difficult, but it would not necessarily close the door permanently.
The possibility of Kane returning to England later in his career remains open, particularly if he wants to challenge Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.
Kane currently trails Shearer’s tally of 260 Premier League goals by 47. If he maintains his elite level into his mid-30s, he could potentially return to England for the final stages of his career.
