Liverpool could face a major fight to keep Alexis Mac Allister, with Real Madrid reportedly considering a move for the Argentine midfielder in 2027.
The 27-year-old remains an important figure at Anfield, but uncertainty surrounding his contract has reportedly attracted the Spanish giants’ attention.
Mac Allister’s current deal runs until 2028, and reports suggest there are no concrete plans for a contract extension at the moment. This situation could give Madrid an opportunity to make their move.
👀 Mourinho reportedly admires Mac Allister
According to Sky Germany, Real Madrid are seriously considering Mac Allister as a potential addition to their midfield as they plan for the future.
José Mourinho is reportedly a big admirer of the Liverpool star, particularly appreciating his physical strength, competitiveness in challenges and ability to control the tempo of a game.
The lack of progress on a new Liverpool contract could further encourage Madrid to pursue their interest.
Mac Allister has previously acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future but insists he will continue giving his best for Liverpool.
His quality is also highly regarded by his teammates. Conor Bradley once described him as an “unbelievable footballer,” praising his composure on the ball and explaining what a pleasure it is to play alongside him.
⚠️ Liverpool face a crucial contract decision
Liverpool’s biggest concern may not be Real Madrid’s interest itself, but the possibility of entering next summer without securing Mac Allister’s future.
If no new deal is agreed, the midfielder would have just one year remaining on his contract by the summer of 2027. That could weaken Liverpool’s negotiating position and force the club to consider whether to sell him for a substantial fee or risk his transfer value declining.
Mac Allister remains a valuable part of Andoni Iraola’s midfield plans, thanks to his technical ability, intelligence, aggression and versatility.
🔴 What happens next?
Liverpool do not necessarily need to panic over Madrid’s reported interest, but making a decision about Mac Allister’s long-term future could become increasingly important.
If the Reds want to keep him as part of their core squad, agreeing a new contract sooner rather than later could be crucial.
For now, Real Madrid’s reported interest is something Liverpool will need to monitor closely.
