Tottenham Close In On £60m Savinho Deal As De Zerbi Targets Final Attacking Addition
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly edging closer to another major signing this summer after making significant progress in negotiations with Manchester City over Brazilian winger Savinho.
Roberto De Zerbi is still keen to strengthen his attacking options, particularly in the wide areas, despite Spurs already investing heavily in midfield and defence. Savinho’s pace, dribbling ability, creativity and one-on-one threat could provide the attacking spark Tottenham have been missing.
Spurs have already made several ambitious additions this summer, with Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke among their notable arrivals. A deal worth around £60 million for Savinho would take Tottenham’s spending close to the £300m mark and underline their determination to compete at the top end of the Premier League.
According to reports, negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City have advanced significantly, with growing confidence that a deal can be reached. Personal terms are reportedly already agreed, while the overall package for the 22-year-old Brazilian is believed to be worth around £60 million.
Savinho is viewed as an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s system because of his ability to take on defenders, create chances and make things happen in tight situations. He made only seven Premier League starts for City last season, meaning the prospect of becoming a regular starter at Tottenham could also be attractive to the winger.
Tottenham have reportedly been interested in Savinho for more than a year, making his potential arrival one of their key transfer priorities.
However, Manchester City are understood to be reluctant to sanction the sale until they secure a replacement. Spurs have also looked at alternative targets, including Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, as they wait for City to make a final decision.
Tottenham cannot afford to delay their plans for too long, particularly with the new season approaching. While £60m would represent a significant investment in a player who has not been a regular starter at City, De Zerbi reportedly believes Savinho possesses the pace and dribbling qualities needed to transform Tottenham’s attack.
With regular playing time, Spurs could be hoping the Brazilian finally reaches his full potential in North London.
