Bradley Barcola had a massive opportunity to open his Premier League scoring account for Liverpool during their clash with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, but his shocking miss left everyone stunned.
The French winger capitalised on a defensive mistake in the 20th minute, winning possession near the halfway line before racing forward and leaving Brentford’s defenders struggling to keep up.
Barcola found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, presenting the perfect opportunity to put Liverpool ahead. However, his attempted chip went badly wrong, with the ball sailing wide of the target.
The winger appeared stunned by his own miss as he wasted a golden opportunity to score his first league goal for the Reds.
After recently grabbing a hat-trick against LASK, Barcola’s failure to convert such a clear chance came as a major surprise. He will now have to wait longer to get his first Premier League goal for Liverpool.
