JACQUET SHINES WITH 7/10 AS WIRTZ GETS JUST 2/10 IN LIVERPOOL’S 3-0 DEFEAT TO MAN CITY
Liverpool suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield, with Jeremy Jacquet earning praise for his defensive display while Florian Wirtz endured a difficult afternoon.
Jeremy Jacquet – 7/10
Jacquet was arguably Liverpool’s most impressive defender despite the team’s defensive struggles. He did a decent job of limiting Erling Haaland’s influence for much of the game, recording 11 defensive contributions and winning five duels. Although he could have done better for City’s third goal, his overall performance was one of the few positives for Liverpool.
Victor Munoz – 6/10
Munoz showed good pace and attacking intent on the right flank, using intelligent forward runs to trouble Manchester City’s defence. He helped Liverpool progress up the pitch and created promising situations, but lacked sufficient support from his teammates.
Ryan Gravenberch – 5/10
Gravenberch produced an energetic performance during the opening stages, completing four dribbles and making seven defensive contributions. However, his afternoon ended in disappointment after he received two yellow cards and was sent off. Liverpool struggled badly following his dismissal.
Bradley Barcola – 4.5/10
Barcola tried to inject life into Liverpool’s attack and helped create two promising opportunities. However, his finishing and final delivery let him down, as he failed to make a significant impact in front of goal.
Virgil van Dijk – 4.5/10
Van Dijk struggled to organise Liverpool’s defence after the team went down to ten men. He was beaten by Haaland for the striker’s goal and made several questionable positional decisions as Manchester City exploited the defensive gaps.
Florian Wirtz – 2/10
Wirtz endured a frustrating outing and failed to deliver the attacking influence Liverpool needed. His attempts on goal lacked accuracy, while poor first touches and frequent losses of possession made his performance even more disappointing.
Although the German midfielder created a few promising situations, he struggled to make a meaningful difference in the final third.
