Milos Kerkez Leaves Hungary Camp Early Ahead of Ukraine Clash
Liverpool left-back Milos Kerkez has returned to the club earlier than expected after being released from Hungary duty ahead of their final international-break fixture against Ukraine.
The Hungarian Football Federation confirmed that Kerkez left the national team camp on Sunday after receiving a suspension for Monday’s Nations League encounter.
The 22-year-old picked up his second yellow card of the competition during Hungary’s 1–0 victory over Georgia on Friday, ruling him out of the upcoming clash. His first booking came in Hungary’s previous meeting with Ukraine, while the second arrived in the 74th minute against Georgia.
Kerkez played a key role in Hungary’s win, scoring the only goal of the match with a first-half header. It was his first senior international goal and helped Hungary secure their first Nations League victory of the campaign.
With the Liverpool defender suspended, Hungary decided to release him early, allowing him to return to Anfield and get some extra rest.
The timing could benefit Liverpool, with the Reds preparing to face Manchester City at Anfield on October 11 when Premier League action resumes.
Kerkez will now have several additional days to recover and prepare for what promises to be a difficult encounter against Pep Guardiola’s side.
