Darwin Núñez Gives Honest Answer When Asked If He Misses Liverpool
A brief fan interaction involving Darwin Núñez has gone viral after the former Liverpool striker was asked whether he still misses the club.
While signing a Liverpool shirt outside a gated property, Núñez was asked by a supporter: “Do you miss Liverpool?” The Uruguayan smiled, continued signing the shirt and simply replied, “Yes.”
The fan then told Núñez that Liverpool supporters miss him as well, to which the striker responded with a thank-you.
The short exchange has attracted attention among Reds supporters because of its genuine and emotional nature.
Núñez left Liverpool in August 2025 to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in a deal reportedly worth around £46–53 million. He had arrived at Anfield from Benfica in 2022 and spent three seasons with the club.
During his Liverpool career, Núñez scored 40 goals in 143 appearances. Although his performances were sometimes inconsistent, he became a popular figure among sections of the fanbase because of his energy, personality and memorable moments.
He also ended his Liverpool career with a Premier League winner’s medal after being part of Arne Slot’s title-winning squad.
His time at Al-Hilal was less settled. Núñez scored six league goals in 16 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign before his playing time was affected by the arrival of Karim Benzema.
In August 2026, he moved to newly promoted Al-Diriyah on loan and has made a positive start, scoring three goals in his first five league appearances.
There had previously been speculation that Núñez could leave Al-Hilal and return to Europe, with some reports even suggesting a possible return to Liverpool. However, those claims were played down by the club and his representatives.
Liverpool had already strengthened their attack, including the signing of Alexander Isak, making a return for Núñez unlikely at the time.
Núñez has previously spoken warmly about his former club and admitted that he misses Liverpool, the atmosphere at Anfield and his former teammates.
His latest interaction with the fan has once again reminded Liverpool supporters of the affection that still exists between Núñez and parts of the Reds fanbase.
