Tottenham could gain from Marcus Rashford transfer twist as Man United soften stance
Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Marcus Rashford this summer, with reports suggesting a deal is becoming increasingly possible following Manchester United’s apparent change in transfer strategy.
Despite already spending more than £200 million on players including Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, Roberto De Zerbi is still eager to strengthen his attack.
According to reports, Spurs are now viewed as the most likely Premier League destination for Rashford if he leaves Old Trafford. While Arsenal have also been linked, Tottenham are believed to be leading the race.
Manchester United are reportedly willing to listen to offers of around £30 million, although Rashford’s reported £325,000-a-week wages could prove to be a major obstacle.
The England international spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he impressed with 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances. However, the Spanish champions decided against making the move permanent, opting to sign Anthony Gordon instead.
Rashford has since confirmed his departure from Barcelona with an emotional farewell on social media, thanking the club and its supporters for their support during his stay.
If he completes a move to North London, Rashford would compete with Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert for a place on the left wing, while also offering versatility across the front line.
Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes Tottenham would be an ideal destination, arguing that Rashford needs regular football rather than a bigger paycheck. Nevin feels Spurs could offer him the opportunity to become the focal point of the attack while reigniting his career and boosting his England prospects.
