Liverpool Star Florian Wirtz Could Be Involved in Shock Michael Olise Transfer
Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz has been linked with a potential move back to Bayern Munich, with Michael Olise emerging as a possible part of the wider transfer scenario.
Wirtz was previously a major target for Bayern before choosing Liverpool after his impressive development at Bayer Leverkusen. However, the Germany international has struggled to consistently produce his best form since arriving at Anfield, leading to speculation about his long-term future.
At the same time, Liverpool could reportedly be interested in Olise following his excellent performances for Bayern Munich. The French winger also has Premier League experience from his time at Crystal Palace.
Transfer expert Christian Falk has now provided more insight into the situation, stressing that a direct player swap is not currently a concrete deal.
According to Falk, Bayern and Wirtz already have a history, with the German having held two private meetings with the club before eventually choosing Liverpool. One meeting took place in Munich, while another was held in Liverpool.
Falk explained that Liverpool manager Arne Slot played an important role in convincing Wirtz to move to Merseyside, but the previous connection between the player and Bayern means transfer rumours are likely to continue.
Bayern are also keen for Olise to remain at the club for many years. However, the German giants reportedly want clarity from the winger next summer regarding his willingness to sign a new contract, with Bayern unwilling to risk losing him for free in 2029.
If Olise eventually decides against extending his contract and chooses to leave, Bayern could potentially consider Wirtz as a replacement. His ability to operate both centrally and from the flanks would make him an attractive option.
Falk also suggested that Bayern could potentially generate a significant transfer fee by selling Olise to another major club, such as Real Madrid, before using the funds to make a move for Wirtz.
For now, there is no indication that a direct Wirtz-for-Olise swap is close to happening. However, with both players potentially involved in future transfer discussions, the situation could become one to watch.
Wirtz has shown some signs of improvement at Liverpool this season, but given the significant fee involved in his transfer, he will still be expected to deliver consistently at a high level.
