Jamie O’Hara Says Tottenham Should Have Been Relegated Before Storming Out of TalkSPORT Studio
Jamie O’Hara’s frustration with Tottenham reached another level after the club’s 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool, with the former Spurs midfielder claiming they should have been relegated last season.
O’Hara was visibly frustrated during Tuesday night’s Sports Bar after Roberto De Zerbi’s side suffered another disappointing result at Anfield.
Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai all found the net for Liverpool, while Conor Gallagher’s late goal was little consolation for Spurs.
The defeat extended Tottenham’s difficult start, with Gallagher’s strike reportedly being their first goal of the season after failing to score in their opening four Premier League matches.
O’Hara launched into an emotional rant, describing the situation at Tottenham as feeling like “groundhog day” and questioning how the club could turn things around.
He claimed Spurs have developed an inability to win, pointing to the club’s spending, managerial changes and goalscoring struggles as evidence of their ongoing problems.
His frustration peaked when he suggested Tottenham should have gone down to the Championship last season.
O’Hara argued that Spurs only avoided relegation because of Aston Villa’s late-season struggles and Everton’s poor finish, insisting the club had not done enough to justify remaining in the Premier League.
He then turned his attention to Mathys Tel, questioning why De Zerbi continues to select the French winger and arguing that he would rather see the exiled Richarlison given an opportunity.
The heated exchange with co-host Jason Cundy eventually became too much for O’Hara, who walked out of the studio after the pair continued arguing over Tel’s role in the team.
O’Hara later returned to the show, but Cundy continued to tease his frustrated co-host about Tottenham’s latest setback.
