(VIDEO) Liverpool Fans Give Andy Robertson Huge Anfield Welcome on Spurs Return
Andy Robertson received a memorable reception from Liverpool supporters as he returned to Anfield on Tuesday night, this time wearing Tottenham Hotspur colours.
Just four months after ending his nine-year spell with the Reds, Robertson came back to the stadium where he enjoyed some of the biggest moments of his career.
The Scotland captain lifted two Premier League titles, the Champions League and several other major trophies during his time at Liverpool, making 378 appearances after joining from Hull City in 2017.
Robertson started the Carabao Cup clash on Tottenham’s bench but was introduced in the 57th minute, replacing Destiny Udogie with Spurs 2-0 down.
When his name was announced over the stadium speakers, the reaction from the Liverpool supporters was immediate. A huge cheer echoed around Anfield before fans broke into a familiar chant for their former left-back.
The reception highlighted the affection Liverpool supporters still have for Robertson, particularly after he remained committed to the club until his final appearance against Brentford in May.
His return was also notable given the contrasting reaction received by former Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold when he returned to Anfield with Real Madrid.
Robertson may have been representing Tottenham on the night, but the warm welcome from the home supporters showed that his legacy at Liverpool remains firmly intact.
