Andoni Iraola Delivers Positive Isak and Gakpo Injury Update Ahead of Man City Clash

Liverpool Receive Positive Isak and Gakpo Injury Update Ahead of Man City Clash

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has offered an encouraging update on the fitness of Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League meeting with Manchester City.

Both forwards were forced to withdraw from international duty because of injuries, but Iraola has not ruled either player out of the highly anticipated clash at Anfield.

Speaking before the match, Iraola confirmed that both attackers are currently dealing with injuries but revealed that Liverpool are still assessing whether they can recover in time to play.

“Isak and Cody Gakpo both had to leave their national teams because of injuries,” Iraola explained.

The manager added that the key question now is whether they can recover quickly enough to contribute against Manchester City.

Although neither player has been officially declared fit, the possibility of their involvement will come as a major relief to Liverpool supporters.

There had initially been fears that Gakpo’s ankle problem could keep him sidelined for a significant period. However, his potential availability for Sunday suggests the injury may not be as serious as first thought.

The same applies to Isak, with Liverpool hoping to avoid losing two of their important attacking options during a busy period of the season.

Liverpool head into the Manchester City showdown unbeaten in their last seven matches under Iraola, recording four wins and three draws.

However, facing a City side currently sitting top of the Premier League with a perfect record will demand Liverpool’s best performance.

The Reds have also suffered a setback in defence following Jeremy Jacquet’s injury, while Gakpo’s absence would be another major concern given his importance in Liverpool’s attack.

With the stakes so high, Liverpool will be desperate for both Isak and Gakpo to recover in time for the blockbuster Anfield encounter.
