Antoine Semenyo Previously Shared Revealing Thoughts on Liverpool Boss Andoni Iraola

Antoine Semenyo’s Old Comments on Andoni Iraola Resurface After Liverpool’s Fulham Draw

Antoine Semenyo’s previous remarks about working with Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth have resurfaced following Liverpool’s disappointing 0-0 draw with Fulham at Anfield.

Liverpool struggled to create clear chances, with the team lacking energy, creativity and urgency throughout much of the game. Dominik Szoboszlai was among the players criticised by frustrated supporters.

Despite remaining unbeaten, Liverpool have collected just six points from their opening four league matches. With Iraola still in the early stages of his Liverpool reign, some fans are already concerned that the team could be heading down a similar path to last season’s disappointing campaign.

Iraola earned widespread praise for his work at Bournemouth, eventually guiding the club into European contention. However, his start in England was far from smooth, as Bournemouth lost six of his first 10 league matches.

Interestingly, Semenyo, one of Iraola’s key players at Bournemouth, previously admitted that he initially struggled to understand or believe in the Spaniard’s methods.

Speaking on the In The Mixer Podcast, Semenyo revealed that Iraola’s demanding training schedule and tactical approach were a major adjustment for the Bournemouth squad.

He explained that the players were used to having more recovery time, but Iraola introduced a much more intense routine, even requiring some starters to train shortly after matches.

Semenyo admitted that the results initially made things even more difficult, with supporters calling for Iraola to be dismissed.

However, everything reportedly began to change after Bournemouth defeated Burnley at home. The squad gradually adapted to Iraola’s system, and the team’s performances improved significantly from there.

Iraola Admits Liverpool Lacked Energy Against Fulham

Following Liverpool’s goalless draw, Iraola acknowledged that his side were not at their best, particularly in attack.

The Liverpool boss admitted that the team lacked freshness and failed to do enough offensively to find a winning goal.

He said the Reds were solid enough defensively to maintain a clean sheet, but their attacking performance needed to improve.

Liverpool will now look to respond when they return to Anfield on Tuesday to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup, with Iraola hoping his players can rediscover their attacking sharpness.
