Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has caught fans’ attention with his unusual comments after the Gunners secured a 2-0 victory over Everton.
Arsenal claimed all three points thanks to goals from their defenders, Gabriel Magalhães and Ezri Konsa, but it was Arteta’s touchline behaviour that became a major talking point after the final whistle.
The Spanish manager received a yellow card in the 63rd minute after stepping outside his designated technical area, an offence he has been punished for on previous occasions.
However, Arteta was clearly unhappy with the decision and had a surprising response when questioned about the booking during his post-match press conference.
🗣️ ARTETA SAID:
“I do need to be careful. I’m going to put sensors there (the touchline).”
He went on to claim that some managers have repeatedly crossed the touchline without receiving yellow cards, revealing that he has been collecting images of such incidents.
Arteta added that he now has a large collection of images and suggested he wanted to compare his record with those of other Premier League managers.
😳 FANS REACT TO ARTETA’S COMMENTS
His remarks quickly sparked reactions online, with some supporters criticising his behaviour while others found the situation amusing.
One fan called him a “little cry baby,” while another admitted that although Arteta is a very good manager, his personality can be unusual.
Other supporters even compared his touchline antics to former Chelsea and Manchester United manager José Mourinho.
🔥 WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Is Arteta right to question the consistency of refereeing, or should he focus more on controlling his behaviour on the touchline?
