Liverpool are reportedly preparing to meet with the representatives of teenage defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe to discuss the possibility of bringing him back to Anfield during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season preparations but was unable to secure a UK work permit over the summer. As a result, he joined Spanish side Levante on loan for the 2026/27 campaign.
However, Ndukwe has since earned enough points to qualify for a UK work permit following his competitive debut for Levante in September. His performances in Spain have also attracted attention, raising the possibility of an early return to Merseyside.
🔴 Ndukwe’s representatives to meet Liverpool
According to Sky Sport Austria transfer reporter Eric Niederseer, the defender’s representatives from More Than Sport by AS1 are expected to travel to the UK for discussions with Liverpool officials.
The meeting will reportedly focus on a potential January recall and the youngster’s next career steps.
👀 Can Ndukwe break into Liverpool’s first team?
A January return could provide an opportunity for the young defender to move closer to Liverpool’s senior squad. However, securing regular minutes may not be straightforward, with Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet currently forming a strong centre-back partnership.
Nevertheless, injuries or changes in the team’s defensive situation could create an opening for Ndukwe in the second half of the season.
For now, continuing his development at Levante could be the best option, especially as he begins to establish himself as a regular starter in Spain.
The more experience he gains in LaLiga, the better prepared he could be to compete for a first-team place at Liverpool in the future.
Still, the reported meeting suggests that his representatives believe he is making significant progress and could be ready for the next step sooner than expected.
Will Liverpool bring Ifeanyi Ndukwe back in January, or should the young defender continue developing at Levante? 👀🔴
