Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close eye on Sunderland and Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey as they continue their search for a new No. 9, with the 24-year-old finally addressing the growing transfer rumours.
Brobbey enjoyed an outstanding debut season after completing a £25 million move from Ajax to Sunderland last summer. His strength, tireless pressing, aerial presence, and clinical finishing played a major role in the Black Cats’ impressive campaign, helping them secure qualification for the Europa League.
The Dutch forward further enhanced his reputation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by scoring twice in the Netherlands’ convincing 5-1 victory over Sweden, underlining his quality on the international stage.
Spurs are believed to view Brobbey as an ideal fit for Roberto De Zerbi’s high-energy style of play. However, when questioned about interest from top clubs, the striker remained calm, saying he was honoured by the speculation but is currently focused on Sunderland and continuing to improve his game.
Any potential transfer is expected to be difficult. Sunderland consider Brobbey a key part of their long-term plans, with his contract running until 2029 and talks over an improved deal reportedly underway. As a result, it would likely take an offer in the region of £40–50 million to tempt the club into negotiations.
Tottenham could also face fierce competition for his signature, with Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Manchester United all said to be monitoring the Dutch international ahead of a possible summer move.
