Tottenham Open Talks With Liverpool Over Cody Gakpo Transfer
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened discussions with Liverpool over a potential move for Dutch forward Cody Gakpo this summer.
The 27-year-old has emerged as a target for Spurs as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. Gakpo has been one of Liverpool’s most reliable attacking players and is currently enjoying an impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.
Tottenham are believed to be keen on adding more quality and versatility to their frontline, with Gakpo capable of playing across all attacking positions. His ability to score goals and create chances makes him an attractive option for the North London club.
Despite his importance to Liverpool, uncertainty remains over Gakpo’s long-term future at Anfield. The Reds are expected to bolster their attacking department this summer, which could increase competition for places and potentially limit the Dutchman’s playing time.
A move to Tottenham could therefore offer Gakpo the opportunity to secure a more prominent role while remaining in the Premier League. However, Liverpool are unlikely to sanction a deal without demanding a substantial transfer fee, especially given the player’s quality and experience.
Spurs are also monitoring other attacking targets, but Gakpo is understood to be among the names under serious consideration as the club continues its summer recruitment drive.
The situation remains in its early stages, with talks ongoing and no agreement yet reached between the two clubs.
