Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of highly-rated PSG youngster Emmanuel Mbemba following his impressive performances for the French club’s academy.
The 18-year-old defender, who can operate both at centre-back and left-back, has attracted strong interest from several European giants, including Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, and PSV Eindhoven.
Reports suggest Arsenal have already presented their long-term project to Mbemba and his representatives, with the club making youth recruitment a key focus under sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta. Discussions are believed to have progressed positively, and the player is said to be impressed by Arsenal’s plans for his development.
Although PSG have offered Mbemba a new contract, the France-based defender is expected to leave the club this summer to sign his first professional deal elsewhere. Paris FC are also interested, but a move abroad currently appears the most likely outcome.
One obstacle for Arsenal is that Mbemba has yet to make a first-team appearance for PSG, meaning he does not currently meet the requirements for a UK work permit. As a result, any move to England could initially involve a loan spell elsewhere to help satisfy those conditions.
Arsenal are not alone in the race, with Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership group and Manchester City’s City Football Group also monitoring the defender’s situation closely.
