Arsenal Fans Accuse Arteta of ‘Ruining’ Bukayo Saka After Leeds United Win
Arsenal supporters have criticised Mikel Arteta over Bukayo Saka’s recent performances, with some calling for the winger to be dropped from the starting lineup despite the Gunners’ comeback victory against Leeds United.
Arsenal returned from the international break looking to close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City following their 3-0 defeat to Brighton. However, James Justin put Leeds ahead shortly after half-time, increasing the pressure on Arteta’s side.
Riccardo Calafiori quickly restored parity before Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench to score the decisive goal, securing another important victory for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite the three points, Saka’s performance became a major talking point among supporters.
The England international had scored twice during the international break but struggled to make a significant impact against Leeds. The 25-year-old failed to complete a successful dribble and managed only three progressive carries throughout the match.
Although he looked more threatening after the interval, his first-half display attracted criticism from fans who believe his performances have declined.
Some supporters questioned whether Saka has lost the form that once made him one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers. Others suggested that his performances have dropped since signing a new long-term contract in 2024.
Arteta also came under fire, with some fans blaming the Arsenal manager for allegedly overworking the winger and failing to manage his playing time effectively.
One supporter claimed that Saka was no longer the same player he used to be, arguing that years of excessive use under Arteta could finally be taking their toll.
Saka had a late opportunity to make amends when Viktor Gyokeres played him through on goal in stoppage time. However, his finish lacked conviction, allowing James Trafford to make an important save.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Lille before travelling to face Nottingham Forest on October 18.
Despite the victory over Leeds, questions are growing among sections of the Arsenal fanbase about Saka’s form and whether Arteta should consider giving the winger a rest.
